Community Planting Day, Milroy & RF Downie Park

Join us for a day of active learning and greening (literally) of Peterborough's community park on Milroy Dr. Click here for map

Meet at 9AM at the park parking lot on Milroy Drive. Bring planting clothes suitable for the day's weather, and don't forget your travel mug! We'll provide beverages, light snacks, shovels and planting expertise.

Treasured Tree Hunt Awards Ceremony

Did you nominate a tree for the Treasured Tree Hunt? We'll be inviting you to the wrap-up where the awards will be presented to the winners.

 

National Forest Week: Sept 20 to 26

It's a perfect time of year celebrate trees in Canada. It's also a great time of year to plant new trees in Peterborough. Join us for a tree walk through Little Lake Cemetery, or visit Ecology Park for planting tips and a wide selection of hardy native trees. Stay tuned for event posting.

Ecology Park Workshop: Trees Pests & Diseases

Shawn Bloom of Ethic Tree Creations will be hosting a workshop at the Ecology Park talking about tree pests and diseases. You’re invited to come with your tree questions, and any samples of tree pests (in a plastic bag, of course) you may have.

The workshop is absolutely free and will be taking place from 2:00 to 3:30 in the afternoon. The park is located next door to Peterborough Utilities and we ask that you park in the Beavermead parking lot just down the street.

"Song Gardens" CD Release Party

Location: Ecology Park

Ecology Park Nature Album "Song Gardens" by Glen Cards will be released on Sunday June 21st at 7pm. This album was recorded at the Ecology Park using a solar digital system. The songs are about the park and all proceeds go to the park. Native Blues Singer Brock Stonefish will open up for Glen and his band. What better way to celebrate the solstice and Nation Aboriginal Day. There is no cost and refreshments will be provided.

Treasured Tree Walk: Little Lake Cemetery

Location: Meet at entrance to Little Lake Cemetery, Crescent St.

Retired Ontario Parks, MNR Tree Enthusiast, Peter Beatles, will lead a walk around Little Lake Cemetery to showcase some of Peterborough's great treasured trees. Bring binoculars and good shoes. No Pets please.
